Active Wellness is excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to align with emerging wellness & fitness industry trends. By integrating innovative technology, longevity-focused initiatives, and a renewed emphasis on fun, we’re poised to deliver even greater value to our clients and partners.

Here are 25 trends we see shaping the health and fitness landscape in 2025.

Longevity, active aging and recovery is going to continue to boom. Consumers are focused on how they can work to improve their quality of life both now and as they age. Data is driving this category in new and exciting ways, and we are extremely excited to be part of it.

  1. Active Aging + Longevity Fitness: Programs tailored to aging populations are on the rise, emphasizing mobility, strength, joint health, and overall quality of life. The focus on healthspan is expanding, with younger individuals embracing longevity practices earlier than ever. Our Activate program reflects these trends, offering personalized journeys based on each member’s needs and goals. With Smart Equipment, targeted assessments, expert coaching, and a supportive community, Activate is ready to thrive in 2025.
  2. Biomarker: Consumers are seeking to optimize their health and performance through specific tests that take a deeper look at things like energy, sleep, hydration, toxic load, gut health, etc. Assessment, reassessment, and a goal driven plan in programs like Activate, can help aid in longevity.  Active continues to partner with industry leaders to gather biomarkers to help us personalize programming.
  3. Mitochondrial Health: Mitochondria is known as the “powerhouse cell” in that their main function is to primarily produce ATP which is an energy carrying molecule. More and more research-backed strategies are surfacing regarding cellular energy optimization through fitness and nutrition and recovery modalities like red light therapy.
  4. Zone 2 Cardio: Steady-state, or moderate intensity, cardio is gaining popularity for improving metabolic efficiency, endurance and longevity. It increases your body’s energy and helps you recover, to just name a few. Zone 2 combined with structured strength training is a win and can be found in 2025 in our ZONE boutique fitness programming.
  5. Brain Training: Exercise improves cognitive function, slows age-related decline, and boosts mental health and mood. Brain health is shifting toward physical, dual-tasking protocols, now central to fitness. Active’s Re:Act program combines brain and body training with evidence-based dual-tasking, exergaming, and coaching for holistic wellness.

Technology is here to stay, and at Active, we’re excited to see it continue to transform the health and fitness industry and our clubs. We intentionally weave technology into our robust program offerings and member retention strategies.

  1. Online Program Prescription: AI-driven platforms are delivering hyper-personalized workout plans based on real-time feedback for users to help them reach their health and fitness goals. Our Activate model will continue to drive this concept forward in each fitness installation we operate.
  2. Mobile Health Experiences: Fitness apps and wearable devices will continue to integrate seamlessly into daily routines for health data tracking. Advanced devices will monitor hydration, stress, and recovery metrics. Our team has found that taking a hybrid approach to mobile health, where it is used as supplementation to in-person engagement, has been a total success.
  3. AI-Powered Group Classes: Look out because group fitness is about to get enhanced by AI to assist with real-time adjustments to intensity, music, and movements.
  4. VO2 Max / Predicted Testing: Consumers are looking to better improve cardiovascular health for longevity and a helpful tool for this is VO2 Max. Tools for this test are more accessible and will help individuals optimize cardiovascular performance. With technology, like Myzone, we continue to educate our members on how to assess and improve their cardiovascular performance.
  5. Health Knowledge: Technology and data are empowering consumers with deeper insights into health, wellness, and fitness. To meet this demand, our team leverages expertise to educate members, partners, and clients through content, programs, and presentations.

More and more individuals are finding that their health and wellness goals thrive when supported by sound nutrition and supplemental wellness. Active continues to support nutrition and wellness through trusted partners like Designs for Health.

  1. Niche Diets: Niche diets, like The Carnivore Diet, will maintain interest among specific communities in 2025.
  2. Lowering Inflammation: Anti-inflammatory diets and supplements will remain central to wellness conversations specifically to improve health and longevity.
  3. Protein Awareness: Continued focus on adequate protein consumption for muscle and metabolic health will be at the forefront in 2025. Fitness professionals will continue to suggest clients focus on protein to drive strength.
  4. Food Dyes and Additives: Increased scrutiny surrounding processed foods with a major push toward natural, clean ingredients will be the buzz this year driving consumers to lean deep into nutrition labels.
  5. GLP-1 Support: Growing interest in weight management and metabolic health via GLP-1 receptor agonists will be a resounding conversation in 2025. We will continue to support clients in these initiatives.

Mental and social health remain pressing needs nationwide, and the health and fitness industry continues to serve as a vital source of support for individuals seeking well-being.

  1. Mental Health Integration: Workouts paired with breathwork, meditation, and cognitive training for holistic wellness will find themselves on schedules across the industry. Active continues to pursue certifications within our teams to support the mental health journey.
  2. Finding Your Healthy Community: Programs and events that build belonging and accountability will strengthen connections within our local club communities. Boutique classes and similar experiences foster smaller, close-knit groups within the larger community. Every program we offer emphasizes community, helping members feel welcome, supported, and part of something bigger.
  3. Fun Fitness: Activities emphasizing enjoyment, such as dance-based workouts or gamified exercise, will attract more participants to have fun. Fun with your fitness will help fitness be sustainable for a lifetime.
  4. Workplace Wellness Recovery & Re-Energization: Employers will prioritize driving employees back to their building through wellness programs that include fitness, mental health, recovery tools and cutting-edge amenities. Active continues to push forward in the workplace space with unique procurement and design strategies, as well as unique virtual health and fitness programming.
  5. Health Coaching: Personalized coaching and one-on-one accountability are key drivers of success, guiding individuals through fitness, nutrition, and wellness journeys. Active Wellness is using health coaching in a number of programs, like Activate and Re:Act, to drive success and help implement healthy life changes in our clients.

When fitness is weaved into daily lifestyles it has a great chance to be successful. Busy lifestyles are driving consumers to find smarter, more efficient ways to stay fit.

  1. Strength Training: There continues to be an emphasis on resistance training and exercises for all ages and fitness levels to drive functional movement for longevity, retain muscle mass, and support a better quality of life.
  2. 10k Steps Daily: Long gone are the days of the pedometer, but here to stay is simply walking. Striving to move more and achieve 10,000 steps a day is a simple, low-impact habit that has come back and remains relevant for improving overall health and longevity.
  3. Recreation for Fitness: People are looking to have fun in their fitness. Activities like hiking, golf, simulators, and pickleball will blur the lines between fun and fitness.
  4. Micro-Workouts: 10 minutes of exercise multiple times throughout the day are becoming popular. These time-efficient, research-backed workouts will cater to busy individuals to build strength and stamina.
  5. Integrated Health Models: We continue to move forward in collaboration across the health industry. Integrating fitness professionals, doctors, functional medicine practitioners, and nutritionists for holistic health approaches.

The future of health and fitness is bright, with 2025 promising innovation, community, and longevity-focused initiatives that redefine how we approach wellness. At Active Wellness, we are committed to embracing these trends, delivering personalized programs, and fostering environments where our members and partners can thrive. Here’s to a transformative year ahead, full of opportunity and progress!
